Watch Glenn Beck discuss the Christian bashing incident below…

Dan Savage, a paid evangelist of the HOMOSEX agenda, earns a living giving people “sex advice”, which usually amounts to nothing more than just encouraging students and others to engage in wonton sexual activity.

Not surprisingly, he’s no fan of the Bible. In a recent speech to students, the founder of the ‘It Gets Better’ anti-bullying campaign decided not to talk about bullying but instead bully Christians and the Bible himself.

David Duke Endorses Leading New York Democrat

Original Article - David Duke Endorses Leading New York Democrat

The Democratic Party is facing an awkward problem Thursday because white supremacist David Duke has endorsed a leading candidate in the Democratic Party’s primary race for a New York House seat.

Duke says he’s endorsing Charles Barron, the leading candidate for the 10th district primary on June 26, because of their shared emnity toward “zionists.”

Barron is an African-American city politician who has been slammed as an anti-white racist and as a Jew-hater. However, he’s already got the endorsement of the retiring Democratic congressman, Rep. Edolphus Towns.

If Barron wins the June 26 primary, he’s a shoo-in for election in November because the district is overwhelmingly Democratic.

His election would be unnerving for many Democrats, including Jewish Democrats. Recent polls say that traditionally high support among orthodox Jews for the Democratic Party is declining toward 50 percent.

Duke’s endorsement of a Democrat also muddies routine claims by progressives that many conservatives and libertarians are motivated by racism. GOP supporters say their beliefs are motivated by American idealism and old-style liberal ideas of tolerance and freedom.

In recent days the Democratic establishment, including New York Sen. Chuck Schumer, has reacted to Barron’s advance by supporting his rival, Hakeem Jeffries, a state assemblyman.

Duke is a famous racist who ran as a Democrat and as a Republican in multiple Louisiana races during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

He now portrays himself as a supporter of “diversity,” and as a non-violent proponent of laws that encourage whites and African-Americans to live separately.

“In an election of limited choices, I think Charles Barron is the better choice [because] there is no greater danger facing the United States of America and facing the world than the unbridled power of zionist globalism,” Duke declared in a June 21 video.

The video appears on his website, whose banner declares, “For Human Freedom and Diversity.”

Duke, who was once a leader of the Ku Klux Klan, and who established the National Association for the Advancement of White People, decried Barron’s support for affirmative action, and his controversial statements that endorse violence against whites.

“I certainly disagree with Barron’s extreme racist, even violently, anti-white rhetoric,” he said, while blaming “Jewish extremists” for racial divisions.

African-Americans and whites “want the same thing — they want the right to associate together in their schools and communities,” he said.

Duke did not explain how the law should treat blacks and whites who wish to live in an area dominated by the other group, or how the segregationist policies would be enforced.

But the real enemies, he said, are “zionists,” meaning Jews.

They “want constant conflict between the two groups so they can use a divide and conquer strategy to rule over us all.”

Jews, and “the international robber-zio-banks… [and] the zionist clubfed,” he said, are “the ultimate real enemies of both our peoples.”

This article has been updated to reflect that Hakeem Jeffries is a state assemblyman, not a New York City councilman.

Pelosi: Holder Contempt Vote is Part of Republican Voter Suppression Scheme

Original Article - Pelosi: Holder Contempt Vote is Part of Republican Voter Suppression Scheme

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: We now have the official… it took a while, about 24 hours, the official Democrat Party response to the contempt citation voted by the committee yesterday against Eric Holder. It comes from Nancy Pelosi. This morning in Washington, this is what the former Speaker said this is all about.

PELOSI: It’s really important to note how this is connected with some of their other decisions. It is no accident, it is no coincidence, that the attorney general of the United States is the person responsible for making sure that voter suppression does not happen in our country.

RUSH: There you have it.

PELOSI: That issues that relate to the civil liberties of the American people –

RUSH: There you have it.

PELOSI: — are upheld.

RUSH: That’s right.

PELOSI: These very same people [who] are holding him in contempt are part of a nationwide scheme to suppress the vote.

RUSH: We need a new planet. We need a new planet called Stupider, and I need to put Nancy Pelosi on it as the mayor of the whole planet, as the governor, as the evil emperor, whatever. I knew yesterday that it would take a while for these people to come up with an explanation, “Well, it’s common. Well, every president does it. Well, this is just a witch hunt.” But I never dreamed, because I can’t think this stupidly, I never dreamed that the official Democrat Party response would be that the Republicans intend to cheat in the election and Holder was gonna stop ‘em, and so Holder has to be stopped because he was gonna stop the cheating. That’s what the mayor of the new planet Stupider, Nancy Pelosi, said this morning in Washington, DC. The very same people holding Holder in contempt are part of a nationwide scheme to suppress the vote. (laughing)

RUSH: Just to repeat, let’s go back. Grab sound bite 21. Here we have the official Democrat Party explanation for the attorney general, Eric Holder, being found in contempt of Congress.

Well, of the committee, not the whole House yesterday.

PELOSI: (haltingly) It’s really important to note how this is connected with some of their other decisions. It is no accident, it is no coincidence that the attorney general of the United States is the person responsible for making sure that voter suppression does not happen in our country, that issues that relate to the civil liberties of the American people are upheld. These very same people [who] are holding him in the contempt are part of a nationwide scheme to suppress the vote.

RUSH: There you have it. That’s what it’s all about, folks. (laughing) Planet of Stupider. This is the same Nancy Pelosi who says she could have arrested Karl Rove any time she wanted, but she didn’t because she was responsible.

Washington Backs Islamists as Sinai and Gaza Explode

Original Article - Washington Backs Islamists as Sinai and Gaza Explode

The Los Angeles Times reports that the Obama administration is “deeply concerned” by the Egyptian military regime’s having seized powers so as to prevent a Muslim Brotherhood takeover of the country.

Pentagon press secretary George Little said that “We…urge the [military] to relinquish power to civilian-elected authorities….” State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said that “We are particularly concerned by decisions that appear to prolong the military’s hold on power.”

As the report notes, the military regime’s move is aimed at preventing the Brotherhood’s presidential candidate Mohamed Morsi—if he has indeed been elected—from “declaring war without the agreement of the ruling generals.”

In other words, it’s a move aimed at preventing an Egyptian attack on Israel, the total collapse of Israeli-Egyptian peace, and a drastic regional destabilization.

The generals are not acting against the Islamists because they’re wonderful people who love Israel and the West. They are, however, sane pragmatists who do not want Egypt, with its severe economic problems, to be dragged into a ruinous conflict.

And for their efforts, the generals have the Obama administration up in arms and crying foul.

How differently the situation is viewed in Israel is revealed by, for instance, veteran military analyst Alex Fishman, who wrote: “This is no longer the same Egypt. It is no longer the same border, the peace treaty is dying, and we better start to change our way of thinking.”

Fishman was referring to how much the situation has already deteriorated since the fall of Hosni Mubarak—hailed at the time by the likes of Obama and Thomas Friedman—in February last year. He was also referring to a military flare-up over the past few days that has seen scores of rockets fired into Israel from Gaza.

The flare-up began, however, south of Gaza on Monday when terrorists—Gaza-based but of Al Qaeda provenance—tried to breach the fence Israel has been building along its southern, Sinai border with Egypt to keep out terrorists, smugglers, and illegal labor migrants.

And it is since Mubarak’s fall that the situation in Sinai has gone to seed as this tract of land—which figured in the 1979 Israeli-Egyptian peace treaty as a peacekeeping buffer zone—has been taken over by both Bedouin and international-terror gangs, sometimes working in tandem, as the central regime in Cairo has its hands full trying to quell anarchy closer to home.

The current round of hostilities has also seen Hamas—the Islamist rulers of Gaza—openly taking credit for the rocket fire for the first time in years. That lack of inhibition is widely viewed in Israel as reflecting a surge of confidence over the developments in Egypt, particularly the prospect of Hamas’s parent movement—the Brotherhood—and other Sunni extremists taking over or at least steadily gaining ground there.

Indeed, a year and a half after the start of what some may still be calling the Arab Spring, the view from Israel is not among the more uplifting in the country’s short history.

To the west and south, the direct security threat steadily worsens as arms from Libya—a country where the Western powers succeeded to sow anarchy and a possible Islamist takeover—flow unhindered into Sinai and Gaza

To the east and north, the ongoing Syrian crisis poses grave risks of the Assad regime’s huge chemical-weapons stockpiles falling into dangerous hands through—again—either anarchy or a Sunni-jihadist takeover.

And in the background Iran—which hopes to capitalize on the Islamist energies of the Arab Spring, which it more accurately calls the “Islamic Awakening”—is succeeding along with the world powers to sustain a transparent sham of “nuclear talks” with, incredibly, yet another “round” having been scheduled for Istanbul in July 3 after this week’s “round” in Moscow yielded absolutely nothing by all accounts.

Israel’s worsening security environment along with stubborn Western failure to understand the regime’s dynamics—a failure that is the flipside of sheer tiredness and cynicism—does not, then, add up to an encouraging picture.

The situation has, though, fostered an enhanced unity that has seen the rise of an almost wall-to-wall, apparently stable governing coalition, and a decline of Israel’s own delusions that not long ago produced such bitter internal dissensus.

With Washington backing the belligerent fanatics in Egypt against the moderates, and still, with its allies, playing ineffectual games with Iran, Israel will need all the unity and realism it can muster.

Black Leaders’ Vendetta Against Israel

Original Article - Black Leaders’ Vendetta Against Israel

We are currently witnessing the sharp rise of a strong anti-Semitic movement among the Western black elite. The leaders of the American Jewish community, who embraced an ultra-liberal agenda, have in the past worked with the black leaders of the civil rights organizations, like the late Martin Luther King, who was very sympathetic to Jewish concerns and to Israel. But now there is a strong pro-Islamic movement among American blacks, sympathetic to the Arabs, whose participation in the slave trade is overlooked.

Alice Walker, author of “The Color Purple,” just recently refused to authorize a Hebrew translation of her prize-winning book, saying that “Israel is guilty of apartheid and persecution of the Palestinian people, both inside Israel and also in the Occupied Territories.” Not only did Walker support the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel, but she also said that Israeli policies are “worse” than the segregation she suffered as an American youth and said South Africans had told her it was worse than Apartheid.

A complete list of the Afro-American personalities who have embraced an anti-Israel stance is long and exhaustive.

Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s pastor in Chicago, his spiritual father, his guide, his model, compared Israel to Nazi Germany and called the Jewish State a “deformed modern apartheid.” Andy Young and Jesse Jackson reached out to Yasser Arafat’s terrorists and Reverend Jesse Jackson even said that then-Senator Barack Obama, if elected president, would lessen the influence of, quote, “Zionists” on US foreign policy. Gerald Lenoir, executive director of the Black Alliance for Just Immigration, an education and advocacy group, declared that “as an African-American who was a leader in the U.S. anti-apartheid movement, I see the separate and unequal treatment of Palestinians as a form of apartheid and a crime against humanity.” An Afro-American icon like the writer Toni Morrison charged Israel with “the liquidation of the Palestinian nation,” while Archbishop Desmond Tutu repeatedly condemns “Israel’s apartheid” and recently penned an article in The Tampa Bay Times where he descended into rank anti-Semitism: “The Jews are a peculiar people. They can’t ever hope to be judged by the same standards which are used for other people.”

The new black anti-Semitism finds expression not only in the “Zionism is Racism” indictment, but the further indictment of the Jewish State as “the new apartheid.” In the hands of the black leaders, apartheid has become the most powerful term for demonizing Israel, since it evokes the precedent of sanctions against the white regime in South Africa.

Anyone who has lived in both apartheid South Africa and Israel knows that the analogy is immoral and wicked. Apartheid was a system of governance where a white minority subjugated the black population and the “superior” whites could not mingle with or even sit on a bench with the “inferior” black peoples. In Israel, Jews and Arabs share public spaces, buses and schools. In Israel all citizens – Jew and Arab alike – are equal before the law.

Israel has no Population Registration Act, no Group Areas Act, no Mixed Marriages and Immorality Act, no Separate Representation of Voters Act, no Separate Amenities Act. Israeli Arabs sit in the Supreme Court, even the most anti-Jewish Arab parties belong to the Israeli Parliament, there are Arab cabinet ministers. In all of Israel’s hospitals, Jewish and Arab doctors and nurses work side by side treating Arab and Jewish patients.

International pressure, boycotts and sanctions on South Africa’s apartheid government eventually played a major role in ending its power. Now, in the name of the apartheid charge, the black leaders have convinced city councils, universities, churches and food co-ops in Europe and in the United States to boycott Israel’s goods. This horrible falsehood should not be dismissed as a bad joke. It can be a nightmare for the Jewish people. The apartheid ideology dictates that all the Israeli land must be returned to Islamic rule, by force if necessary.

Do these black leaders remind us of the NY Crown Heights pogrom? It erupted in August 1991, when a Jewish driver in the motorcade of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson accidently ran over Gavin Cato, a seven-year-old child of Guyanese immigrants. Rumors that the boy had been deliberately killed because of his black race quickly spread. Jews were beaten by Afro-American rioters and a Jew was stabbed to death. A band of Black radicals led by Al Sharpton, Sonny Carson and Alton Maddox, notorious for fomenting inter-group hatred, fanned the flames of anti-Semitism among their fellows. Sharpton organized marches through the Jewish third of the neighborhood saying “diamond dealers” (the Jews) were responsible for the death of Cato. That’s why in 2011 a Long Island panel on the riots, after a Jewish protest, was postponed for the inclusion of Sharpton.

Ten years after the Crown Heights pogrom, under the new black apartheid analogy, the World Conference against Racism, held by the United Nations in Durban in 2001, was transformed into a racist conference against Israel and the Jews. In the same city where President Mbeki held his festival of victory against the real apartheid, another death sentence was passed for the Jews. Several weeks later, the Second Intifada broke out in Israel. 1,500 Jewish civilians have since been killed in suicide attacks and shootings; 10,000 have been wounded. Many black leaders were involved in the Durban proto-Nazi saga.

In 1948, except for a few isolated voices, African American opinion was overwhelmingly sympathetic toward the new Jewish State. Ironically, Martin Luther King Jr. on March 25, 1968, addressed the Rabbinical Assembly, saying, “I see Israel as one of the great outposts of democracy in the world, and a marvelous example of what can be done, how desert land can be transformed into an oasis of brotherhood and democracy. Peace for Israel means security.” Now Martin Luther King’s horrible heirs are directing their anti-Semitic vendetta against the Israelis.

Rove: Pelosi ‘Sounds Like Mad Red Queen’ With Arrest Threat

Karl Rove said Rep. Nancy Pelosi was “dead wrong” when she suggested Wednesday that she could have had him arrested.

“The only way I could have been arrested is if the House adopted the resolution, which it did not,” the Republican operative and former adviser to President George W. Bush told Fox News on Wednesday night.

“So, it’s nice to know that Speaker Pelosi wanted to have me arrested. It’s nice to know that she thinks she had the power to, but we’re still a nation of laws and she has no authority to do so and had she attempted to arrest on any of the number times that I was in and out of the Capitol, without a resolution passed by the entire House of Representatives, she would have been up the proverbial creek without the proverbial paddle.”

Pelosi, the Democratic leader in the House, made her comments Wednesday after House Republicans moved to pursue contempt of Congress charges against Attorney General Eric Holder.

“I could have arrested Karl Rove on any given day,” the California Democrat told reporters. “I’m not kidding. There’s a prison here in the Capitol. If we had spotted him in the Capitol, we could have arrested him.”

The former House Speaker said while “any number” of charges could have been brought against Rove, “there were some specific ones for his being in contempt of Congress.”

Rove said Pelosi was guilty of speaking in hyperbole.

“You know, she sounds a little bit like Inspector Clouseau and a little bit [like] the Mad Red Queen, but Speaker Pelosi was dead wrong in her assertion today and I’m sure she had a good laugh and it’s nice to know that she dreams of slapping me in her own personal jail. But she didn’t have any authority to do it,” Rove said.

Pelosi Promises to Replace ObamaCare’s Mandate if Struck Down, Insists “You have to eat your vegetables.”

Original Article - Pelosi Promises to Replace ObamaCare’s Mandate if Struck Down, Insists “You have to eat your vegetables.”

Answering questions from reporters today, Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi previewed her party’s likely legislative response should the Supreme Court strike down ObamaCare’s health coverage requirement, suggesting that Democrats will look for a functional alternative to the mandate — a way to mandate insurance coverage without running afoul of the Constitution:

You have to eat your vegetables — you have to have the mandate in order for this to work from a financial standpoint…If Americans like the idea that they and their children cannot be deprived for a lifetime of health care insurance because of a pre-existing health care condition, then that will require some other action if that is to happen. And what would that be? There could be something passed in the Congress, similar to what we had originally in the House bill, which was a surcharge on the wealthy to pay for aspects of that … States can take their own actions.

[Via ThinkProgress.]

“You have to eat your vegetables,” eh? A poor choice of words given the critical emphasis on the question of whether an insurance mandate would allow Congress to mandate the purchase of other private goods, such as broccoli? Maybe so, but in context the reference seems intentional. After insisting that the mandate was “iron clad constitutionally,” Pelosi brought up the broccoli question explicitly: “Let’s hope and pray that the Court will love the Constitution more than it loves broccoli and that we will have a decision that is based on the merits and the Constitution of the United States.”

The political prospects for a mandate alternative of any sort won’t be strong in the immediate wake of a high court ruling striking down the current requirement. But Pelosi’s remarks make it clear that regardless of how the Supreme Court rules, some Democrats will still want to explore alternative means of asserting congressional power to mandate coverage.

Last year I took a look at a number of possible mechanisms that might replace the mandate.

Pelosi Rips Holder Contempt Charges: ‘I Could Have Arrested Karl Rove on Any Given Day’ (Liar!)

Original Article - Pelosi Rips Holder Contempt Charges: ‘I Could Have Arrested Karl Rove on Any Given Day’ (Liar!)

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi attacked House Republicans for pursuing contempt of Congress charges against Attorney General Eric Holder on Wednesday.

“I could have arrested Karl Rove on any given day,” Pelosi said on Wednesday, The Huffington Post reports. “I’m not kidding. There’s a prison here in the Capitol. If we had spotted him in the Capitol, we could have arrested him.”

“Oh, any number” of charges could have been brought against Rove, Pelosi said. “But there were some specific ones for his being in contempt of Congress.”

Pelosi also criticized Republicans pushing for justice for Border Patrol agent Brian Terry — as House oversight committee ranking Democratic member Rep. Elijah Cummings has on numerous occasions — as “just strictly political.”

“It’s just the irresponsibility of the Republicans,” Pelosi said. “We want jobs. Why are they spending this time doing this?”

Pelosi attacked House oversight committee Chairman Darrell Issa too. “‘Loose cannon’ would sort of be like such a compliment to Darrell Issa,” Pelosi said. “‘Loose cannon’ would be a moderate phrase. This is an explosive device. It doesn’t serve our country, and it undermines the true purpose of contempt of Congress.” (GUILTY AS CHARGED: Issa’s committee approves Holder contempt citation)

“That’s why I didn’t arrest Karl Rove when I had the chance,” Pelosi added. (DOC BLOCK: Obama invokes ‘executive privilege’)It’s unclear if Pelosi is aware Rove did not serve in a Bush administration position that’s identical to Holder’s in the Obama administration. Rove was a senior policy adviser — a position that’s more similar to Valerie Jarrett’s or David Axelrod’s on President Barack Obama’s team. Holder is the attorney general, the top law enforcement official in the United States. Pelosi spokesman Nadeam Elshami wouldn’t answer when The Daily Caller asked if Pelosi was aware of the distinction.

Rove was not immediately available for comment.

Scumbag Chris Matthews Slimes GOP as Racist for Going After Holder: An ‘Ethnic’ ‘Stop-and-Frisk’

Original Article - Scumbag Chris Matthews Slimes GOP as Racist for Going After Holder: An ‘Ethnic’ ‘Stop-and-Frisk’

Liberal MSNBC anchor Chris Matthews on Tuesday slimed the House GOP investigating Attorney General Eric Holder as racist, insisting that the possible contempt charges over Fast and Furious had an “ethnic” feel. Using charged, racial imagery, Matthews demonized, “Is this sort of stop-and-frisk at the highest level? Go after the attorney general, get him to empty his pockets, stand in the spotlight.”

The Hardball host, who had previously been ignoring the Fast and Furious scandal, changed course and portrayed the whole thing as a bigoted witch hunt. Talking to former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, Matthews speculated: “I don’t want to start too much forest fire here, but it is my instinct: Is this ethnic, Mr. Mayor?” [See video below. MP3 audio here.]

The left-wing journalist weirdly speculated as to Congressman Darell Issa’s motives: “If he can humiliate this guy, if he can get to him, he’ll be a big star in the Republican caucus. He’ll be Dick Nixon.”

Congressman Richard Nixon became a “star” in 1948 by exposing communist spy Alger Hiss. Hiss, of course, was very guilty. So, perhaps this is not the best metaphor for Matthews to use.

Showing just how little he had covered Fast and Furious, Matthews asked Wade Henderson of the Leadership Council, “Explain Fast and Furious.” His viewers could be forgiven for not knowing anything about it.

A transcript of the June 19 segment can be found below:
CHRIS MATTHEWS: Up next, when Republicans won control of the House of Representatives, their real prize, of course, was the subpoena power. They have got it and they are using it to go after the attorney general. Is this sort of stop-and-frisk at the highest level? Go after the attorney general, get him to empty his pockets, stand in the spotlight as long as they can and see if anything happens? That’s ahead.
5:46

MATTHEWS: That was the House Oversight Committee chair, Darrell Issa, behaving in his usual way, two weeks ago hammering Attorney General Eric Holder for not turning over documents related to the so-called Fast and Furious campaign, the flawed gun tracking operation carried out by the ATF. Shortly after that, Issa set a vote to hold Holder in contempt of court, or contempt of Congress rather, for tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. Holder and Issa just wrapped up a meeting, by the way, a few moments ago, after which Issa says he’s still waiting for the documents he wants and hopes to get them tonight, or wants to get them tonight. Willie Brown is a former mayor of San Francisco, former speaker of the California House, and Wade Henderson is the president of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. Let me go to Wade first because I want to understand is there any reason why we should put any trust in the good intentions of Darrell Issa here?
WADE HENDERSON (Leadership Council): None at all, Chris. Chairman Issa is pursuing a politically motivated witch hunt that’s designed to discredit the Justice Department and to force Attorney General Holder to resign. He’s using Fast and Furious as the vehicle to pursue that witch hunt. But the truth is, nothing could be further from the factual bases for him making the assertion about Holder’s lack of cooperation.

MATTHEWS: You know, when I look at this, Willie Brown, Mayor Brown, I just look at it- and I don’t mean to use this term too much- but it’s almost like a stop-and-frisk. Here’s a chance to humiliate a distinguished member of the United States government, the attorney general- and everybody knows- close friend of the president’s. It’s a surrogate operation. If he can humiliate this guy, if he can get to him, he’ll be a big star in the Republican caucus. He’ll be Dick Nixon.

WILLIE BROWN (Former mayor of San Francisco): That’s what he thinks, but obviously, that will not be the case, Chris. There are too many Republicans, I think, that are responsible and responsible enough to know that you’re, you don’t go down the road that he’s going down in terms of contempt of a cabinet member. You just don’t do that unless it’s similar to what occurred with reference to the Bush administration when two members were cited in some manner or another for doing what they did of his staff. After that, there’s nothing that you can justify such conduct. Other than the fact that you’re leading kind of a lynch-like mob.

MATTHEWS: Well, let’s got to some of the things that Issa before he even heard of this case. He was looking for a case. He said when he got, before he even took the oath for this Congress, Issa, the congressman look what he said. November 8th, 2010, before he took the oath, I want seven hearings a week times 40 weeks. He didn’t say what they were for. I’m just going to have lots of hearings. He also said — what’s your jurisdiction? He said “we own everything.” This is megalomania.

HENDERSON: Chris, you know, Attorney General Holder testified at least eight times before Congress. He has turned over thousands of pages of testimony. He is the only attorney general that actually appointed an inspector general or referred a matter to an inspector general for review, and he ended the program which was the subject of controversy. Rather than investigating, for example, Attorney General Mukasey, who started the actual program under debate, it was called Operation Wide Receiver, Mukasey has not been before the committee, we’ve had no discussion or with ATF officials, who were involved. It was A.G. Holder who actually disciplined some of the ATF officials who were involved. So the truth is this isn’t about the facts regarding Fast and Furious. This is about creating a climate where the A.G. is going to be discredited and will resign.

MATTHEWS: You know, I worked on the Hill. As you know, Mr. Speaker, Willie Brown. You know, you are not supposed to make the come ad hominem comments about someone else. You saw the tape where he makes fun of Attorney General Holder by you are not my kind of witness. You are not a good witness. What’s this? You get to be the teacher and you get to reprimand the student? I mean, the kind — I have never seen it aimed at a cabinet member before.

BROWN: It really means you should not be given any opportunity to exercise power. Chris, when you receive the mantle of leadership on the power side, it automatically imposes up on you a higher level of responsibility than this congressman seems to be able to discharge. He’s got to be somewhat of an embarrassment to his colleagues just by his heavy handedness.

MATTHEWS: Let me — I want to you take — give us a narration here. Darrell Issa, the attorney general, what’s been going on here? How long has this been building?

HENDERSON: This has been building for months. As you pointed out, Darrell Issa was determined almost from the outset of him holding the gavel that he was determined to hold one member of the administration in some degree of difficulty because of their actions. He focused on Fast and Furious. Obviously this was-

MATTHEWS: Explain Fast and Furious.

HENDERSON: Fast and Furious was a gun-walking program where guns were purchased in the United States, taken across the border back to Mexico, and distributed by individuals who had no license or right to purchase –

MATTHEWS: And the idea was to track them.

HENDERSON: We were tracking those guns to find out where they went and hoped to buy the purchaser — to get the purchaser as well as the recipient. It was started under the previous administration. General Mukasey actually had Operation Wide Receiver which was the precursor of Fast and Furious. It ended up with in the depth of officials who were involved with the U.S. government and ATF official, I believe, was killed. But this was a terrible operation. It should never have taken place. Much to his credit, Attorney General Holder ended the program, he disciplined ATF officials who were involved. He convened and — inspector general to take a look at the issue. He testified over eight times with the Congress and he’s provided thousands of documents-

MATTHEWS: And your theory is with this guy Darrell Issa, his goal is to push this further into rub the guy’s face into it.

HENDERSON: Absolutely. And to force the attorney general to resign as a discredited official. Now, here’s what’s ironic — there has never been an attorney general held in contempt of Congress. There’s never been a vote by the House of Representatives on the contempt citation. To do it now against Eric Holder is to ignore all the facts of the case and to use a fiction to promote this kind of political agenda and I hope that both members of the Democratic Party as well as Republicans will see this for what it is.
MATTHEWS: I don’t want to start too much forest fire here, but it is my instinct: Is this ethnic, Mr. Mayor?

BROWN: I think it has some ethnic flavor to it. It will be interrupted by some in that vein.

MATTHEWS: Yes.
BROWN: And you have to be careful you don’t give the opportunity to make that case factually and what Darrell Issa is doing is — has given some individuals the opportunity to make that case and to compare it to a stop and frisk.
MATTHEWS: Well, I just did it because — it smells like it to me and I think there is a disdain on the part of some Republican, not all. Certainly not Boehner. But some of them down in the rank and file, red hot end of the team, that do talk down to the president and his friends absolutely.

Original Article - Mont. GOP Displays Bullet-Riddled ‘Obama Outhouse’ (F’ing AWESOME!)

A bullet-riddled outhouse labeled “Obama Presidential Library” containing a fake birth certificate for Barack Hussein Obama and graffiti that read “For a Good Time” and a reference to first lady Michelle Obama was on display at the Montana Republican Convention in Missoula.

The display on Saturday also contained “For a Good Time” references to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and U.S. House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, her name circled in red.

The display was parked outside Missoula’s Hilton Garden Inn that drew some 500 convention goers.

The convention also includes a raffle for a shotgun, shovel and duct tape, a reference to shoot, shovel and shut up involving the illegal killing of wolves or federally protected species such as grizzly bears.

Investor’s Business Daily story here by Andrew Malcolm, formerly of the Los Angeles Times. “Obama’s Immigration Ploy Has Gained Him Nada” in the polls. “To help smother the dismal reviews of his economic reset speech last week in Cleveland, President Obama scheduled a last-minute Rose Garden appearance Friday morning to add some presidential heft to his executive order about immigration. Whenever he’s in trouble, the one-time Real Good Talker throws another speech out there.

“Until this spring’s troubles, everybody always said speaking was his strong suit. His Fidel Castro-length economic remarks blamed Europe, Congress and the usual Texan [George Bush] for the nation’s re-sinking economy.” So here’s Andrew Malcolm reviewing the Obama that we all know. It’s the same guy. He goes on and on and on, says nothing, stutters and hems and haws without a prompter. It’s common. It’s every day. To the guy at the New York Times, it’s panic time.

Oh, no! My God, he doesn’t look so smart now. He doesn’t look so in command.

It’s the same Obama that everybody gets every day. And then Andrew Malcolm writes, “But — are you sitting down? — it contained no new ideas. He’s still waiting for Congress to do something, you see. So, the 6,300 words ended up merely calling more sustained attention to the administration’s idea bankruptcy, to the dim outlook for job improvements and to how bad the economy remains, despite all the promises more than 700 days ago of a magnificent Recovery Summer. Two-thirds of Americans remain convinced their country is still mired in recession.

“So, to change the subject quickly, Obama’s Friday schedule was amended for him to get some news coverage about what he’d already told Homeland Security to do: Permit illegal immigrants who came to the United States as children to remain here under certain conditions, not including citizenship. The unexpected announcement, which always raises the attention level in that DC hothouse, was widely touted by the media as a brilliant political move that would not only back Republicans into a corner somewhere, but earn a badly-needed poll boost for the Democrat languishing dangerously well below 50% approval in an election year.”

But “On the day before his immigration remarks, Gallup’s seven-day rolling average of about 3,000 registered voters in a hypothetical Obama-Romney match-up had the Republican ahead 46-45. Four days later the rolling average was exactly the same, 46 Romney[;] 45 Obama. In Rasmussen Reports’ three-day rolling average of their match-up, just before Obama’s Rose Garden remarks, Romney lead Obama 47-45. Three days later, Romney had improved to 48. Obama had slipped to 44.”

So there was no bump.

There was no polling bump.

Obama didn’t get any polling bump from his immigration remarks on Friday. And I told you to expect this on Monday or Tuesday of this week. I asked you to remember 2007 and that the people of this country are diametrically opposed to amnesty. They don’t want any part of it, of what Obama announced. I said it’s not gonna help him. Everybody thinks it’s gonna help. What he’s doing, folks, is he has given up on mainstream America. His bet is that his electoral chances are better coalescing all these disparate, extreme fringe groups into one voting bloc. And he thinks that bunch will outnumber mainstream America.

That’s what he’s counting on. They said it was brilliant, but ain’t gonna happen.

It’s not gonna happen.

Lawrence O’Donnell Mocks Ann Romney for Riding Horses to Combat Multiple Sclerosis

Original Article - Lawrence O’Donnell Mocks Ann Romney for Riding Horses to Combat Multiple Sclerosis

With each passing day, the Obama-loving media stoop to new lows in attacking the presumptive Republican presidential nominee and his family.

On MSNBC’s The Last Word Monday, host Lawrence O’Donnell mocked Ann Romney for having the nerve to combat her multiple sclerosis by riding horses:

LAWRENCE O’DONNELL, HOST: In tonight’s Rewrite, Mitt Romney rewrites the definition of an Olympic athlete.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BOB SCHIEFFER, HOST OF “FACE THE NATION”: I hear you’ve got an Olympic athlete in the family.

MITT ROMNEY: Isn’t that something? Yeah, it’s not me. It’s my wife, of course. She’s the athlete, but in this case, it’s not her personally, but she along with two other people purchased a horse and have trained it up.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

O’DONNELL: She’s the athlete. That’s what Mitt Romney just said. She’s the athlete.

Actually, that’s NOT what Romney just said. He said, “But in this case, it’s not her personally, but she along with two other people purchased a horse and have trained it up.”

Exactly what about that clarification to Schieffer’s question wasn’t clear enough for O’Donnell to understand?

The host of Face the Nation said, “I hear you’ve got an Olympic athlete in the family,” and Romney replied, “But in this case, it’s not her personally.”

Is the intellectual capacity of MSNBC anchors and commentators dropping as Romney rises in the polls, or is it just their professional integrity?

Or both?

Let’s continue:

O’DONNELL: So what will the athlete in the family be doing in the Olympics?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ROMNEY: So she’s quite thrilled and I’m sure she’ll be watching. I have a campaign to attend to, so I won’t be able to see it perform. But I’m very pleased for her.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

O’DONNELL: That’s right. The Romney family definition of an Olympic athlete is a person who participates in the purchase of an Olympic athlete, in this case, a horse that the Romneys own. Now, Mitt Romney has always told the story of the family’s entry into the breathtakingly expensive so-called sport of dressage as a therapeutic option for Ann Romney’s multiple sclerosis.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SCHIEFFER: Dressage?

ROMNEY: Yes, it’s the sport of dressage. Not many people are familiar with it, but something for which she has a passion, and frankly, her getting back on a horse after she was diagnosed with MS was able, she’s convinced, to help her regenerate her strength and renew that vigor.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

O’DONNELL: Now, this is not in any way to make light of Ann Romney’s difficulty with MS, it’s obviously a very difficult thing to bear. And there are a lot of things you can do to try to deal with MS. But, come on, dressage does not appear in any of the more traditional courses of treatment. And if it’s true that dressage is how wildly rich people deal with this very difficult personal health problem, then why, why does the horse appear on Mitt Romney’s tax return as a business expense, that in 2010 produced a $77,000 business deduction. Not a healthcare deduction, a business deduction for the Romney Limited Liability Corporation that owns the horse as a business.

Mitt Romney was afraid to identify a single tax deduction that he would eliminate or reduce, but I think we can be sure that the Olympic athlete in the Romney family, the horse that masquerades as Ann’s horse, but that is never actually ridden by Ann, would continue to be a fake deductible business expense if Mitt and Ann ever get to watch their Olympic athlete on a TV in the White House.

This is so disgusting it’s nauseating.

First off, what business is it of O’Donnell’s how Ann Romney chose to deal with her illness?

If going for walks, going to the museum, watching television, or, heaven forbid, riding horses helped “regenerate her strength and renew [her] vigor,” isn’t that a good thing?

Why should that be the subject of scorn and derision, especially from a representative of a so-called “news network?”

As for Romney’s taxes, it is safe to assume that their LLC purchases horses as an investment just as most people do. Income is derived from breeding and/or selling them. As such, expenses associated with their training and upkeep are deductible.

This has absolutely nothing to do with healthcare. But why should we expect an ignorant shill such as O’Donnell to understand that?

Furthermore, who is O’Donnell to ridicule anyone for his or her wealth? According to Celebrity Net Worth, his estate is valued at $8 million.

That makes him just another rich liberal castigating Romney for his wealth.

It never ends, does it?

*****Update: I received a very interesting email message from NB reader Jeffrey Peters who is a volunteer to Maryland Special Olympics and 4H (with permission):

Dressage is a very common technique to help many types of disabilities, and is one of the few that tends to work for many problems that lack effective treatment. Therapeutic Riding is a major event and is a fundamental component of the Special Olympics. In Maryland, over 100 riders participated in the Special Olympics Therapeutic Riding event earlier in June. Dressage is not for “rich people.” Most of the Special Olympians are from lower income families. Most participants are just honest people who enjoy a very popular sport. This is a part of the matter that is so often ignored. It is honestly upsetting to see such hate against an event that helps so many special needs adults and children.

One such facility is the Maryland Therapeutic Riding center:

Maryland Therapeutic Riding (MTR) is a non-profit organization located between Baltimore and Annapolis, Maryland on a beautiful 25-acre farm. Utilizing certified instructors, licensed therapists, volunteers and specially-trained horses, we offer high-quality horseback riding programs to open new pathways of healing for children and adults with a wide range of physical, mental, and emotional challenges.

Therapeutic Riding is a treatment for rehabilitating a range of physical, mental, and emotional disabilities. PATH certified instructors use the horse as an instructional tool to teach riding skills and reach individualized goals and objectives. Conditions served include: cerebral palsy, spina bifida, neuromuscular disorders, post-traumatic brain injury, autism, ADHD, and cognitive disorders. Riders see an overall improvement in their quality of life. They experience improved self-confidence, strength, balance, coordination, attention span, and language and social skills.

I also discovered that therapeutic riding is used to help “wounded warriors from Iraq and Afghanistan improve their balance, coordination and hone other valuable physical therapy skills.”

As fate has it, suburban Chicago’s Daily Herald just published a piece on this issue on – wait for it – Saturday (HT @CindyCoops):

Documents from Ancient Greece show horse therapy dates to 600 B.C., with the practice growing in popularity in recent years around the suburbs and across the country.

Earlier this month on a three-day campaign stop in Florida, Ann Romney, wife of the former Massachusetts governor and GOP presidential hopeful, visited a therapeutic horse-riding facility telling patients she was unable to walk at one point because her multiple sclerosis symptoms were so severe. But, Ann Romney said, the “excitement of getting on a horse” helped her build her strength and caused her symptoms to ease.

Once again, this article was published only three days ago!

As such, shouldn’t an MSNBC anchor either know of the medical and psychological benefits of therapeutic riding or have someone on his staff investigate it before mocking a presidential candidate’s wife for claiming it helped her overcome her serious illness?

Or might uncovering the facts inconveniently interfere with his agenda?

*****Update II: NB reader Mark Neidl offered his thoughts via email (with permission):

My son has Cerebral Palsy and therapeutic riding benefitted him as well as many other children and adults who suffer from many different ailments. People like the Romneys support organizations such as these and without their gifts and donations, people like my son would not have had the opportunity to participate in a program such as this since we are not wealthy as are 90% of the people who have benefitted from therapeutic riding. I recall my son competing in “Dressage” once a year which allowed him to compete against other riders and showcased his abilities to everyone. We have ribbons to prove it and my wife and I are positive he improved because of this program.

Mr. O’Donnell’s comments and mocking of Dressage were quite insulting.

Here is the website for this wonderful program: http://www.sheacenter.org/

Mr. Neidl informed me in a follow-up message, “Our son graduates this Wednesday, quite an accomplishment for him since his diagnosis at birth was pretty dire. Throughout his life he has been helped by a lot of people and, God forbid, many of them wealthy.”

Original Article - British, Argentinian Leaders Clash Over Falklands

Handout picture released by the Argentine presidency of Argentine President Cristina Kirchner (R) talking with British PM David Cameron during a brief encounter after a G20 summit meeting in Los Cabos, Mexico. Kirchner and Cameron clashed on Tuesday at the G20 summit over the future of the disputed Falkland Islands, officials said. (AFP Photo/)Argentina’s President Cristina Kirchner and Britain’s Prime Minister David Cameron clashed on Tuesday at the G20 summit over the future of the disputed Falkland Islands, officials said.

The pair came face to face at the meeting of the world’s major economies in Mexico, at a time when tensions between their countries were already running high just after the 30th anniversary of the Falklands War.

Cameron urged Kirchner to respect the will of the 3,000 residents on the South Atlantic islands, who want to remain British. Kirchner countered him by citing UN resolutions calling for sovereignty negotiations.

“The president had the UN resolutions and she said to Cameron: ‘Let’s respect the United Nations’,” Argentina’s Foreign Minister Hector Timmerman said.

“The prime minister refused to accept the documents, turned his back and walked away without a farewell,” he added, accusing Britain of disrespecting UN resolutions and of retaining a colonialist mindset.

A Downing Street source, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that there had been an exchange, but downplayed the claim that Cameron had refused to accept a packet of documents from Kirchner.

Cameron had sought to urge Kirchner to respect the right of the Falklands’ current residents to decide their own future in a referendum, the source said.

“He took it up to her to make those points. She took that badly and that was basically it,” she said.

“I don’t think it was actually totally clear that she was trying to give him documents…. We’re following up with Argentinian officials here to see if there are any documents they want to give us.”

In 1982 Argentina’s former military regime invaded and occupied the Falkland Islands, which are known as the Malvinas in Spanish.

Britain promptly dispatched a naval task force to the South Atlantic and recaptured the territory after a brief but fierce war which left 255 British soldiers and 650 Argentines dead.

Argentina now has an elected civilian government and Kirchner has called for negotiations with Britain on the islands’ future.

British officials accuse her of stirring nationalist passions for domestic political gain, and Cameron has refused to discuss the issue of sovereignty.
